I sat down and chatted with Cassidy Androff, who is a junior nursing student at Wichita State University. She is a member of the WSU track and field team, and she is a thrower. She grew up in Gardner, Kansas and track brought her to Wichita. I asked Cassidy a few questions to get to know more about her athletic career.
Q1.) What events do you compete in? Which is your favorite? Why? Cassidy competes in shot put, discus, weight and hammer throw. Her favorite event to compete in is the hammer throw, because it was an event she never competed in before college and she thinks it’s fun to throw.
Q2.) What were your goals for the upcoming season before COVID-19? Cassidy was working hard towards her goal of getting a mark on the top ten list at Wichita State. She also had a goal of making it the AAC Championship in Tampa, Florida. She was working hard in the weight room to gain strength to help her reach goals for the season.
Q3.) How do you manage your time between nursing school and t/f? Cassidy had to prioritize her school work for nursing before track. She would put in her work for t/f on her own time after her nursing classes or her clinicals.
Q4.) If you weren’t doing t/f, what sport would you want to be playing in college? Cassidy would see herself playing basketball if she wasn’t on the t/f team. She had offers to
colleges for basketball before deciding on continuing her t/f career. She was a four year varsity player at Gardner-Edgerton High School in Gardner, KS. Cassidy played the post, and was a top scorer for two of her four seasons.
Cassidy is currently working hard to finish up her second semester of nursing school, managing her new job, and working on getting ready for track season next year. I would like to thank Cassidy for taking time out of her busy day to chat with me!
Stay safe friends!
